Our
Story

Hi, I'm Erin!

I'm a millennial mom (1986 baby!) just trying to hold it together because this cannot be the adulthood my mother made look so cool when I was a little kid.

I'm based in Central Illinois and I'm a Midwestern girl with a dash of Southern Belle mixed in from the influence of a sassy granny from Opelika, AL in my formative years. I am the mother of one amazing teenaged girl, the daughter to great parents that have been married for over 40 years, sister to my beloved wild card of a big sis, and aunt to one of the most resilient and determined young men you'll ever meet who recently made me a Great Aunt to the cutest little guy. I come from a large family with ALL the cousins. My family means the world to me. They're also probably the reason my brain is always racing from one thought to the next. When you have to learn how to pay attention to 4 conversations at the same time at an early age because you're nosy and 6 of your aunts and uncles and 8 of your cousins are all talking at the same time and there's also a band playing in the backyard, you learn to keep up or get left behind. Never a dull moment.

As a kid, I used to ask my dad to record me while I staged cooking shows, fishing shows, science shows, etc. He was such a good sport and a great dad, so he would just follow whatever it was I wanted with the camcorder! Thank goodness this was before YouTube existed, lol. I also would pretend to host radio shows and present on HSN. I love explaining things! So naturally, as an adult, a lifestyle blog is just the thing I needed to get it all out.

I'm not ashamed to say that a huge part of my personality is shaped by being a mom. I really love it even though it's absolutely the hardest thing I've ever done. As a single mom, I find that so many of my adventures include, or are because of, my daughter. That led me to being the Thick Fit Mom. I want to teach my daughter that health and fitness is more important than body shape and size and also that it's OK to explore all of your interests, no matter where they take you.

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the internet!
